What could you expetc from a first class restaurant that has a
sign oustide it's enrance stating: 'We Like To Cook' ?
They really do like to cook and have an Italian chef who will be
pleased you prepare (amongst many other dishes) penne alla arrabiata
for you as if you were in Naples or Rome.
The Citrus Restaurant is located immediately on the left once you
enter the Hilton Hotel via it's main entrance and you can choose
the non smoker section at the front or the smokers area further
to the back of the restaurant.
The tables near the large windows are arragned in cosy alcloves
and this restaurant is really THE place in Prague to have a busines
lunch or a romantic dinner.
A full course meal, say pasta and fish or meat will cost around
Euro 40 which is pretty cheap if you consider that eating at the
Hilton either in London or Milan would cost about three times as
much.
A good bottle of Pinot Griggio can cost around Euro 30 but also
cheaper but good Czech wines for around Euro 10 a bottle are available.
Here's an example:
Pasta (spaghetti with tomatoe sauce) Euro 9,35
Venison Tenderloin - Euro 16,70
Zweigeltrebe Wine (1 glass) - Euro 8,00
Espresso - Euro 2,90
Grappa - Euro 5,48
Total = Euro 42,43
The service is superb with multi lingual head waiters and waitresses
very attentive to each table.
Anastacia, UB40, Simply Red or Dire Straits can be the background
music of the evening which goes to show that the management of this
restaurant has decidedly moved the atmosphere of a restaurant of
this category from the usual 'stuffyness' that one would possibly
expect of such an establishments.
Italian espresso as short as it should be, served with a Grappa
or a Slivovic can round up a great meal in a smooth, classy but
not 'stuffy' atmosphere.
After your meal, take a walk through the Hilton foyer and be amazed.
This on it's own is a good exceuse for paying the Prague Hilton a
visit. At the other end - opposite the entrance you can have another
drink at the foyer bar and then if you're feeling lucky, take the
stairway in the center of the foyer down to the Atrium Casino where
you will find a lush interiored casino with various Roulette, Poker
and Blackjack tables. Not a gambler ? Never mind, visit the casino
anyway - expresso is free and they have the nicest looking female
croupiers in all of Prague.
